Job Description
Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Director, Research and Technology Innovations (D-RnT) will be responsible for the development of Tech4Life’s research and technology development strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. The D-RnT will also be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures in the research and technology realm. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior researcher in health technologies with a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-growth, mission-driven social and commercial organization. The incumbent will undertake the roles of Innovator, executor, change agent and mentor for the organization.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategy, Vision and Leadership
Contribute to the development of Tech4Life’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the Research and Technology policies for the organization.
Identify key areas of research and innovation and maintain Tech4Life’s leading edge in these areas.
Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the CEO informed of all critical issue
Team Development/Leadership
Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the technology, research and support teams.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
Maintain relationships with donors and leading organizations and individuals in the projected areas of research.
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
Operations
Apply for and acquire external funding for research and innovation
Negotiate a plan for IT development, innovation, research and support with other departments within Tech4Life and external partners, and ensure meeting the expectations
Ensure that Tech4Life is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to CEO and the board.
Provide analytical support to Tech4Life’s internal management team including development of internal monitoring and reporting capabilities.
Directs internal operations to achieve budgeted results and other financial criteria, and to preserve the capital funds invested in the enterprise.
Insures that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing research and business operations.
About the person
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Health (MBBS, MD or BScN), with Master’s in Health or Nursing
Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a senior role in research and policy sector related to the use of health technology.
Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization
Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
Team player who can multitask
Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Tech4Life’s board of directors, and staff
Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker
